P.A. Commercial Represents Kirk Gibson Foundation in Establishing Michigan’s First Wellness Center for Parkinson’s Disease
P.A. Commercial is proud to announce its role as the tenant representative for the Kirk Gibson Foundation in securing the site for the first-ever Parkinson’s Disease Wellness Center in Michigan. After an intensive search led by Matt Schiffman and Mike Gunn, P.A. Commercial identified 31440 Northwestern Highway as the ideal location for the Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson’s Wellness. The 42,692 square-foot facility, previously occupied by auto technology supplier Forvia, is situated along the Northwestern Highway corporate corridor, surrounded by a serene, wooded area with walking trails, creating a peaceful and restorative environment for the center’s visitors.
Through a deep dive into the Metro Detroit area’s demographics, Schiffman and Gunn worked closely with the foundation to pinpoint a location that would best serve the Parkinson’s community. The selected site will provide access to approximately 8,000 individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, strategically chosen for its proximity to a population of residents aged 55 and over, who are more likely to be affected by the disease.
The Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson’s Wellness, operating under the mission “Movement Matters,” will be designed by renowned architecture and design firm Gensler, and will open in 2025. The holistic center will focus on movement, with an emphasis on how exercise can help manage the effects of Parkinson’s Disease. The facility will include comprehensive programs and spaces, such as:
In addition to physical wellness, the center will offer cognitive programs including speech therapy, music therapy, and art programs. Educational initiatives will focus on essential life skills, such as kitchen safety, fall prevention, and nutrition, providing comprehensive support for patients and caregivers.
Schiffman and Gunn celebrated the unveiling of the center at a private event held in the space on October 1, alongside the Kirk Gibson Foundation and other key stakeholders.
